Birthed into a family of self-taught musicians, Lyric discovered her love of writing music at 18. She taught herself how to play the guitar and has been living the dream ever since. Lyric awakens an undiscovered spirit within her audience, both as a solo artist and with her band. From her humble beginnings as a local street musician, the Asheville native delights audiences with an enlightened mixture of pop, soul, and funk. Primarily influenced by Tracy Chapman, India Arie, and Jimi Hendrix, Lyric has a voice all her own. An inspiring, driven musician, Lyric has self-released two full albums and one single in addition to a music video for the single “Camera Shy
” with plans to release another album in Spring 2015. Voted first place for best Soul and first place for R&B/ Blues by Western North Carolina in the Mountain Express 2014, she has shared the stage with Grammy winners Lizz Wright, Amy Ray, and Count M’Butu among many others. In the words of local writer Peggy Ratusz, “I cannot impress upon you enough that while her music beacons me, compels, soothes and entertains me, what is equally persuasive is her warm, open, kind and caring demeanor. This is a person who is aware she is special; a young woman with quiet confidence who exhibits sincere interest in others.” A patient, kind teacher, Lyric hopes to inspire creativity in her students with an emphasis on the positivity and hope music can bring to their lives.
