Kristina Miller grew up studying classical violin and piano in Western Pennsylvania. She began studying viola in high school, performing with the Youngstown Symphony Youth Orchestra and the Pennsylvania All-State Orchestra. As an adult, she fell in love with Bluegrass fiddle and taught herself how to improvise using formulaic techniques that have allowed her to expand into Country, Western Swing, and other genres. She has played at venues festivals around the West Coast, and now performs with multiple bands around the Asheville area.
Lessons with Kristina
I can teach either classical violin or viola with the Suzuki method, or bluegrass fiddle styles of playing. I tailor my teaching approach to each student based on their learning style. I help children learn to love music by encouraging them to listen to music that inspires them, and teaching them to express their own feelings through music.
