Mary Frances Allen

Mary Frances Allen “Mama Funk” is a keytar slinging, soul-singing keyboard maestro that has been playing music and performing since the age of five. Mama Funk joined Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band in 2009 on a mission to bring high-energy, dance-driven party music to the world. She has recorded and released three albums with Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band.

She is a Grammy Award winning artist performing and writing on Secret Agent 23 Skidoo’s 2016 kid-hop album, Infinity Plus One. She is a Board Certified Music Therapist and taught Middle School Music and Rock Band for 3 years in Brentwood, TN.

Over the course of her career, Mama Funk has shared the stage with funk legends George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, Bootsy Collins, Maceo Parker, Galactic, The Meters, Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk, and Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe. She has performed in countless venues across the country and major music festivals including Telluride Blues & Brews Festival, Wakarusa, Bear Creek Music Festival, Center of the Universe, Floyd Fest and Asheville’s own Bele Chere, Leaf Festival, LAAF Fest, and Downtown After Five series. Mama funk continues to share her love for music through performing and teaching to audiences all over the world!
